The City of Safety Harbor is fortunate to have a 300 to 500 year old historic live oak tree in its core downtown area. There vision was to incorporate the tree into a park that both featured the tree and protected it. The city also had a need for additional downtown parking. American/Avalon designed a park and parking lot that meet both goals. The park was designed with brick pavers, wrought iron looking aluminum fence with brick columns to protect the 82-inch diameter oak, and special up-lighting. The park was designed to also feature a bronze sculpture and beautiful tile mosaic. The parking lot id designed to blend into the park. Extensive coordination was required with the City Council and adjacent property owners.
