San Miguel Partnership: Mission San Miguel Subdivision
Leon County, Florida

American/Avalon provided design concepts and construction plans on hardscape elements and landscape improvements for this 84-lot residential subdivision. The work was a collaborative effort with our landscape architects, graphic artists and structural engineers. The project included research on Spanish Missions in the region to incorporate period-appropriate design elements with modern techniques. Automatic gate and entrance sign structures were designed for the main entrance, as well as separate entry features for individual neighborhood side streets and fountains for the roundabouts within the project. Landscape design of project buffers was also provided for adjoining properties and I-10 right-of-way. A major element of the project was a buffer for a property line near the approach to the front of the project (main entrance) that included the coordination of large tree relocation with a tree spade for an instant effect. This tree relocation work was completed within the four-day schedule within the budget of $100 per tree.
