City of Port St. Lucie: C-24 Canal Park
Port St. Lucie, Florida

American/Avalon provided the site design, public involvement, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, stormwater design & permitting for the C-24 Canal Park. The design and management of this project was led by American/Avalon’s landscape architect. Park improvements include 4 boat ramp lanes, queuing docks, fishing pier, picnic shelters, fish cleaning station, parking, bathrooms, lighting and a central wet detention pond for the 8-acre site. Access to the site is provided with an extension of an existing City street. The public involvement process resulted in preservation of significant trees and more than an acre of on site wetlands. Coordination with both Parks and Recreation and Engineering personnel resulted in additional contiguous wetland preservation on an adjacent drainage ROW, providing additional buffer for residents, while reducing localized flooding by draining off site runoff through the park stormwater system.
