Spring Hill Drive at Mariner Boulevard Utility Design & CEI
Spring Hill, FL

This project included the preparation of utility plans for the relocation of a water line and sanitary force main to Maravoid conflicts with the proposed roadway and existing private utilities while and upgrading the capacity of the water main to meet the requirements of the recently completed Hernando County Master Plan.  This was all performed within the existing right-of-way while maintaining traffic for one of the Counties busiest intersections.  The size of the existing water main was increased as required by the master water plan and a parallel water main was placed on the opposite site of the road in order to provide a redundant system to minimize any outages if there is a future break in the pipe.  Along with the installation of the new water main, new water services were installed.  The existing sanitary sewer was also replaced in the locations that conflicted with the proposed roadway, water main, and storm sewer.  The utilities installation included 10,000 feet of Directional Drilled Water Main, and 700 feet of force main.  The water main was directionally drilled in order to avoid the many existing private utilities for communications, gas, and power.

Spring Hill Drive Roadway and Utility Design
Spring Hill, FL

This 3.42 mile of roadway entailed widening a 2-line to 5-line closed drainage system.  Florida Water Services retained American/Avalon to develop construction plan for relocation of the water main along the roadway and its 35 intersections. The core issue was to minimize conflict with other utility facilities especially the main gas line and proposed storm sewer.  The work included the installation of temporary water lines in order to prevent disruption to customers when the existing line required removal in order to place the proposed line.  New water service lines were installed from the new main to the customers meters.
