American is currently serving as General Engineering Consultant to FDOT Central Office – Project Management Office. Eighteen task assignments have been completed or are underway including:
- Assessment of Scheduling Practices: American conducted an assessment of current scheduling practices throughout FDOT in all disciplines. Two and three day interviews were conducted in each of the eight districts. A report was prepared which summarizes current scheduling practices by district and discipline, identifies best practices and areas for improvements, and provides recommendations and implementation strategies.
- FDOT’s Project Management Handbook: The entire handbook was updated and expanded to include enhanced graphics and five new chapters.
- Project Management Training: Ten three-day training sessions were provided to FDOT staff through a specialty subconsultant. The training focused on basic project management skills.
- Computer based Project Management Handbook training: American and a specialty subconsultant developed computer based training (CBT) for each of the 27 chapters of the handbook. Each CBT session is 15 to 40 minutes in length. American was fully responsible for developing the training content and test questions.
