American provided design services for the widening of SR 21 from Old Jennings Road to Knight Box Road from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane divided rural roadway south of the bridge at Little Black Creek, including five-foot bike lanes, and five-foot sidewalk in each direction. The project included wetland and upland delineation and assessment using the Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method, pond siting analysis and selection, permitting with the St. Johns River Water Management District, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection. This project was design to provide F.A.C. 14-86 critical storm event attenuation.
