Key Tasks :

  • American prepared the DEIS and FEIS which compared project alternatives; evaluated impacts and proposed mitigations.
  • American performed a Regional Delivery Plan for all wind turbine generator (WTG) components (blades, tower sections, nacelles and transformers). A desktop and field assessment was conducted to identify one or more routes that could be used to deliver WTG components from major transportation corridors and to identify any impacts that might result from those routes.
  • American performed a Local Road Survey that reviewed the possible routes for the delivery of WTG blades, tower sections, nacelles and transformers within the Project area. For this study, American surveyed intersections for issues with clearance radius and for issues with vehicle tracks.
  • American performed a GPS survey on all field delineated wetland boundaries within the proposed wetland project area in preparation for an ACOE wetland permit. American field staff surveyed the boundaries of approximately 295 total acres of wetlands out of a 2,486 acre wetland project area. For this task, American utilized a Trimble GeoXH GPS unit equipped with a Hurricane Antenna, in order to increase accuracy within areas of dense tree cover, running a ESRI ArcPad 8.0 customized program in order to main data consistency and integrity.
  • American performed a 30% project design for the placement of all project components (towers, access roads, laydown areas, electrical collection system). The 30% design was subsequently utilized to calculate temporary and permanent project related impacts.
  • American was retained to prepare the USACE and NYSDEC wetlands permits.
