FDOT District 7:
Structural Design Support Services
American is currently under contract with FDOT District 7 to serve as an extension of the in-house structures design staff by performing a wide variety of miscellaneous structural design services. These tasks can include the design and inspection of bridges and other structures, the review of plans, the emergency inspection of damaged or failing structures, the participation in value engineering studies as either a team member or a team leader, the production of district semi-standards or by providing support in any other way as needed. These task assignments typically have short durations that require quick and accurate responses. American has been successful in fulfilling these requirements by having knowledgeable employees who are familiar with our client’s needs.
A few highlighted assignments include:
- Developed wooden boardwalk semi-standards
- Designed a continuous deflective separation (CDS) unit for Gandy Boulevard
- Designed light pole pilasters for bridges on US 301 and SR 54
- Designed concrete support slabs to strengthened box culverts running parallel to Gandy Boulevard
- Developed Failure Analysis and Rehabilitation Alternatives Report for Tierra Verde Bulkhead
- Reviewed numerous consultant and in-house BDRs, plans and reports
