American received the distinguished honor of being recognized as part of the “Value Engineering Team of the Year”, fiscal Year 06/07” by FDOT District One staff. American served on the value engineering team for the I-75/SR 80 design project. Although every team responded well to the challenges presented to them, the I-75/SR 80 team was given the double challenge of reducing costs and coming up with a better alternative to the under bridge geometry. Value Engineering teams were hand picked for this team and its special challenge based on their ability to look beyond the obvious and function like true engineers, solving problems, and not just turning a typical section into a set of plans.
